Ready to spend a few days in Singapore, we landed in Changui International Airport. Special mention to this airport for its impressive attractions and the quality of service offered to travelers, making it the best airport in the world for several consecutive years.
Singapore is not exactly the cheapest place in Asia, especially in accommodation and meals, however the transport is quite affordable.
We stayed at RedDoorz Hostel (Kallang MRT) at a price of 48 SGD for two people for two nights in a 10 person shared room. The facilities are fine, the place is very clean and in the morning you can have a free toast breakfast. Additionally it is next to the Kallang MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) subway station in Singapore. The metro is connected almost everywhere and is quite affordable, the average price being 1.4 SGD but varies depending on the distance. The most expensive route is certainly to the airport, but still more affordable than a taxi, so if you have time it´s a good option.

Choosing a taxi from time to time is not too budget damaging either. For a half hour journey we paid 12 SGD.
The restaurants are quite expensive, but luckily there are many Indian restaurants with cheaper prices (around 12 SGD for two people). You might have some difficulties finding one in the "Downtown Core" area of the city center, there´s only a few. They´ll always be the 7-eleven, where you can buy a sandwich for 3 SGD.
We´re talking about one of the most developed cities in Asia, so you´d imagine it having lots of people, traffic, pollution ... but to our surprise we found Singapore to be a clean city (not a paper on the ground), fluid traffic with mostly hybrid cars and without motorcycles, surrounded by vegetation everywhere.
Singapore is a place full of attractions but undoubtedly the most famous is the "Gardens of the Bay", giant trees that approaching the end of the day, are covered with lights. Every night they make a show of music and colours that does not leave indifferent to anyone. To get there you simply have to take the MRT to Marina Bay, a boat shaped hotel.

Perhaps before arriving at the gardens, you may want to visit "Merlion", the icon of the city. It´s an imaginary creature with the head of a lion and body of a fish. The closest station to get to Merlión is Raffles Place, and I´ll take the opportunity to say that if you go to the "The Arcade" offices when you get off the subway, you will find the best currency exchange in the city.

As you walk down the street you´ll find prohibitive signs everywhere, such as no smoking, no eating (especially durians, a local fruit with an unpleasant smell) or drinking in the subway, with fines of up to 5000 SGD. Other rules are no stepping on the lawn, do not cross the street if it is not on a zebra crossing, no running ... among others. Another thing that is prohibited is stopping taxis on the street in "New York" style. If you want to take one you will have to go to the nearest hotel or shopping center, and wait your turn in the queue.
If you were planning to go shopping in Singapore, you made the right decision as there are shopping malls all over the place. This is not so bad when you want to take refuge from the stifling heat of the streets, with air conditioning and free wifi. If you´re looking for second-hand photography material you should go to "Peninsula Shopping Center" and if you´re looking for all kinds of accessories for mobile phones, computers or technology in general, then you should go to "Sim Lim Square".
See you in the blue
