As with last week we continue with dives in the Sierra Helada Natural Park of Benidorm, this time we will talk about La Llosa and the second Llosa.

La llosa

Possibly the best dive of the Costa Blanca, La Llosa is located a few hundred metres from the island of Benidorm. It is a submerged island, with morphology similar to Benidorm island itself.

Its shallowest part is 7 metres. From this point, one side of the Llosa slopes down to 18 metres. On the other side, we find a spectacular wall 25 metres deep and can reach 30m as you move away. The seabed consists of large rocks, some of which build a luminated swim through called “the Virgin Cave”. There is fantastic visibility here, it is undoubtedly the most spectacular part of the dive.

At this site the dive begins visiting the immense rocks and the Virgin Cave, then finishes by cutting in shallower to search for nudibranches.

Flabellina affinis

The marine fauna is very diverse, including octopus, schools of bream, chromis, dentex, moray eels, barracudas and some groupers.

It is common to find currents in this area and it is recommended to be at least an advanced diver.

About 60 metres from the Llosa there is the Second Llosa, another rock formation. The main difference is the depth, of 40 metres, so only divers with deep specialty can enjoy it. The sea floor is turned yellow by a field of gorgonians of considerable size.

Paramuricea clavata

The size of the lobsters that live at these depths will also surprise you.

Palinurus elephas

The Llosa of Benidorm dives are among the most spectacular in the Mediterranean.
