Within the "Sierra Helada Natural Park" we have the Island and the Llosa of Benidorm. The Island of Benidorm is a rock facing the coast of the city, and hides an underwater mountain named La Llosa which reaches more than 30 metres deep. There is much to talk about these two enclaves, so today we will focus on the Island of Benidorm.

The Benidorm Island

It is one of the most popular diving locations in the Mediterranean due to the great biodiversity it hosts, with obladas, breams, chromis, octopus, moray eels, conger eels, nudibranchs, and many others. It is also suitable for all levels of diving.

  • El embarcadero

One of the best known dives. Once the boat has been moored, diving begins following the island's south wall. Suitable for all levels with a maximum depth of 24 metres.

Octopus vulgaris
  • Punta de Garbí

Once the "El Embarcadero" dive ends, "Punta de Garbí" begins. It shares the same depth as the previous site. The nacre (Pinna nobilis) is found in this area, an endemic bivalve of the Mediterranean Sea in danger of extinction.

Peltodoris atromaculata
  • The lighthouse

Under the lighthouse of the island, you will find a dive site for all tastes. It is an extension of the cliff, with a bottom composition of large blocks and reaches a maximum depth of 26m. Groupers and eagles rays are commonly observed here.

Myliobatis aquila
  • The arches

On the opposite side of "El Embarcadero" we find the island's star dive. The marine reef is amazing, with a maximum of 25 metres depth. Here you can observe mid-water barracudas, eagles rays and even sunfish. Do not forget to control your buoyancy and your fins when you swim through the arches (-10 meters).

  • Cave of the Christ

It is the site located to the north of the island. Do not hesitate to go slowly here so you don’t miss out on the macro life of the dive. A cave can be found at 9 metres deep.

Hippocampus guttulatus

As mentioned above, the incredible biodiversity, the beautiful underwater landscapes and the great conditions suited to all levels make the Island of Benidorm’s waters an ideal place for diving.
